It's ice hockey season!

Have you ever watched a game of ice hockey? This fast-paced sport has been played at Tekapo Springs for many years on our awesome outdoor ice rink! There’s no entry fee to watch the games or visit our café, so you can grab a hot drink, a delicious meal (new menu coming soon) and check out this exciting game!

Did you know ice hockey originated from the hockey-like games brought to America by European immigrants? The sport was adjusted for icy conditions and early versions of the game were played on frozen rivers, lakes and ponds. By 1920, ice hockey was established as an Olympic sport, and continues to be the most popular sport on ice. Ice hockey will be played at Tekapo Springs until mid-September (weather dependent) and our rink will be fully booked at certain times. If you’re planning on going ice-skating, please refer to our bookings calendar here.
